Description and documentation
In Buddhist art the wheel is a metaphor for Dharma, the Buddha's teaching. The Met documents, among other examples, a pilaster decoration with this motif from the early third century CE. That is a historical example, rather than a date for every contemporary drawing of a wheel. The SigilFont version serves as a simplified iconographic depiction.
