Description and documentation
The crescent paired with a star has not had one meaning throughout history. The Met documents this arrangement in medieval heraldry, among other contexts. Its placement in a library category does not make it an exclusive symbol of all adherents of one religion. This is an original interpretation of two graphic motifs.
